5great read  Apr 12, 2008
By Chrisleo
I have been reading one or two novels a week for many years. This book was a very good read. Since I read prior to going to sleep I was happy that the book was full of mostly short stories or I would have missed a nights sleep, not being able to put it down. The fact that I could finish one story and then go to sleep was my salvation.

5A great page turner book  Dec 10, 2011
By Bowhunter Jim
My wife and I found this book to be very insightful and full of delightfully interesting characters. We could not put it down until we finished it then we passed it on to 8 of our friends who said that they could not put it down as well. It gave each of us a clearer insight into little known female characters of this era - an era where most writers focus on men or battles to the exclusion of courageous women. Since we live in Springfield, Missouri, this book was particularly of interest since we are in the heart of Civil War territory. We recommend this book to any serious reader of the Civil War and women of courage.

4A great read  Nov 20, 2011
By J. Groberg "book aficionado"
Young girls need role models and this book is full of them. Civil War Women of Courage tells these amazing true stories with charm and warmth. The characterizations are rich and the stories themselves are told in a style that is great for all ages. I've been telling my three daughters all about them and they love them.

1Very elementary  Jul 26, 2011
By Susan Brown
This book has some interesting stories but they are told with contrived dialogue and on a level of about middle school. The research acknowledgements are just as light and most stories only have one attribute. Maybe good for a pre-teen but definitely not a heavy hitter. This should be on the $2.99 "rack" for Kindle.
