Collecting Costume Jewelry Christmas Tree Pins: Vol. I: Unsigned

Christmas tree pins are one of the most popular niches in the costume-jewelry figurals category. Holiday brooches are widely collected and sought, the most desirable being valued over $200. While most attention has been given to signed jewelry, unmarked pieces maintain an aura of mystery that maddens aficionados determined to solve a pin's provenance. Who made certain beautiful or unusual pieces? Was it Eisenberg, Carnegie, Weiss, Robert, Sandor, Boucher, Reinad, Mazer, Calvaire? Often, even experts will never know. Some unmarked creations are among the most intriguing of all - and among the most affordable. The most unusual specimens here include: karat-gold Christmas tree parure; white-flocked tin tree with aluminum bells; tree with French Provincial frame and blue-glass center panel. Text describes trees and offers price guide. Introduction aids collectors in understanding why a pin might have gone unmarked, including various scenarios involved in design and manufacture.

5Someone's going to get coal in their stocking!  Oct 20, 2008
By June D. Reiter "June Reiter"
Kathy Flood has blessed us with an illustrative masterpiece to help the reader find their very own delightful holiday pin and a bit of magical holiday warmth that comes along with wearing it. We all know that nothing says holiday cheer like a beautiful Christmas tree pin. We also know that nothing says bah-humbug like a bad review from a lump of coal. I'm not sure which book was being reviewed that deserved a one star rating, but I assure anyone considering this book that if you crack open the cover all the Scrooge's in your life will be whisked away. Let the one-star Grinch be blinded by the sparkle of these pins as showcased as only Kathy can! Happy Holidays!

5Sherri's review  Sep 09, 2008
By Sherrilyn E. Wells
Once again, Kathy Flood has published a very informative book, this one being dedicated to Christmas Tree pins. Kathy has included such a variety of tree pins in this book and so many that one hasn't seen anywhere before. She has done a fantastic job of capturing the unusual. I thought I had a lot of tree pins in my collection, until I got this book and I have very few of the ones it in! It gives me so many to look for.

5Readable Reference  Jun 10, 2010
By Joy Brown
This book is a wonderful read as well as a serious reference book. Like Kathy's other books, I read it cover to cover like a good novel. She speaks to the novice as well as seasoned collector of Christmas Tree pins. Kathy's writing is smooth and sparkling exactly like her subject matter. Thanks for the great read! Joy Brown

5So much fun!  Sep 09, 2008

This book is great for all Christmas pin or figural pin lovers. The photos are such fun to look at and to marvel over, and the text is informative and entertaining. I am hoping that Volume II is coming soon!

2Collecting Costume Jewelry Christmastree Pins Vol 1 unsigned  Dec 17, 2011
By Janet e Mayhew
This book is way overpriced. The pages are black paper with green print and it is hard to read . The entire quality of the paper and the set up indicates a book that was cheaply made. Compared to the Trowbridge book which is less expensive this book is a rip off. It is also poorly organized and referencing a pin is a chore because it is not set up in a well organized fashion. I cannot highly recomend this book. Someone needs to make a far better and far more comprehensive book on this topic.
