Color My Love Black

I use the name Princess St Joan as a pseudonym for my paintings. I was named after St Joan of Arc and received the honorary title of Princess Bright star in 1964 by Chief Red Feather of the Sioux American Planes Indians in San Francisco California. I joined Chief Red Feathers troupe of American Ceremonial Indian International Ceremonial Dancers in the U.S. It was in hopes to join forces with my Indian brothers and sisters to gain help and recognition and cooperation for our less fortunate people. I met Chief Red Feather and discussed my plight to help my Carib friends in Dominica and this is how we paralleled our quest. I came into art in 1975 after I had an encounter with a dead artist Frantisek Kupka who lived in the 19th century. He helped to support he and his wife by being a medium and spiritualist. He was a firm believer in reincarnation and so am I. I believe there is a pantheistic created force from which we all draw a certain energy that allows us to transcend verbal communication, to see a language beyond words through various creative media. That energy has directed me to take my works and beliefs to anyone willing to give or listen, all towards pursuing a destiny of fame and spiritual fulfillment. The fame is for myself, it is the goal I am pursuing because it will provide a sense of security and that security in turn would allow me to freely pursue my ultimate goal of providing spiritual fulfillment for others.
