Confessions of a Brazilian Bikini Waxer is a collection of stories from the depths of Reny Ryan’s waxing room. Filled with wit, laughter, and candor Confessions offers a look into the lives of the women and men who, through this beauty practice, change their lives (particularly their intimate lives), better themselves, and come out looking fabulous. Reny, who through the ups and downs of life defines herself as a “seasoned woman,” possesses a refreshing outlook on life, beauty, self-care, and what it means to be our best selves—hairy or not. Confessions was inspired by a decade of serving an average of 1500 clients a year. Using humor as the best remedy to deal with momentary waxing pain, Reny tells of those who came to shed their hairy “whatevers” and in the process let go of shame, old age, and fear of self-expression. To our benefit, her clients also leave behind tales of happiness, amusement, sometimes betrayal, but always a good lesson of what it means to take life in stride.
