Interesting storyline Aug 05, 2011
By Benedict Osorio Being a fan of both mysteries/thrillers and baseball history, I was eager to read this novel after seeing a book review in my local newspaper. The plot was interesting and fast-paced. However, I was disappointed with the lack of character development outside of Harry and Maggie. Also, the end was somewhat confusing. I agree with the previous reviewers that the editing was poor. Overall an easy, enjoyable read and I hope the author continues to develop as a writer.

As a collector of baseball books ( approx.1100 currently ) as well as mystery books, I was very interested in reading this novel. I have around 140 baseball mysteries in my collection and this one definitely deserves to be included. The author comes across as a witty, intelligent writer with believable characters you care about. There is a lot of foreshadowing of the plot throughout the book and it is a real page turner from beginning to end. With a lot of plot twists and many villains involved , I found myself leafing back and rereading some sections to keep things straight. It held my interest to the end and had a great ending. My only complaint is that it kept me wanting for more. I hope the author writes a sequel with Harry and Maggie and continues their adventures. I think she has a real winner here for a series. I highly recommend it.

I was also excited to read this author's first novel. Confessions of an Accidental Sleuth is a delightful story with interesting characters. The story was easy to follow and of interest to this reviewer. Having the schema to understand the characters and their motivations made the the story enjoyable.
I thought the book was well written and had a great story line. Even though the vocabulary could be challenging at times, it does not distract the reader from enjoying the text.
I love the mystery in the story. The story kept the reader guessing until the end of the story. I also recognized some of the references in the story with regards to the characters. The characters, which I might add, were believable and made the story interesting. Well done!

I was excited to read this author's first novel. I was not disappointed! The book was a stimulating, engaging and fairly rapid read. Why ? I was attracted to the subject matter, the plot and the characters. --- In the earlier pages of the book, the author concentrated too heavily on the more complex vocabulary of descriptive. However, by mid book, the action really took off, engaged the reader and accelerated my reading and curiosity. The ending was a bit involved and though not confusing, a bit of a struggle to conclude. -- My credos go out to B.F.M., I want the sequel and more. Thank you ! --- Rob Bailey, Newport Beach, California
