This book was outstandingly written by a veteran police officer who experienced the "real" efforts made by police officers in LA and throughtout the United States.

Thanks.

5very enlightening perspective  Jan 26, 2012

Wow, I have always had a great deal of respect for law enforcement, but this book puts the life of an officer in full perspective. How they juggle family life to fighting every imaginable type of crime on the streets and remaining responsible, productive and loving contributors to society is remarkable. This is a must read for young and old. Try to put yourself in these situations and think about what you would do besides dirty your underwear. This book is written about real "Knights", and they deserve our unqualified gratitude and respect for their dedication to protecting us.

5Excellent book, true life heroism  Jan 12, 2012
By jdmcgehee
One word to describe Conflict in Blue, gritty. It's the "Old West" set in 1968 Los Angeles. Wyatt Earp and Dirty Harry don't have anything on Nicholas McClean. Back when cops were to be respected and sometimes feared. When a fleeing felon was deservingly shot at and often times killed. It exposes the streets of South Central LA as a war zone. Its combatants high on heroine with no regard for human life and only motivated by the next score and revenge. While those who were sworn to protect and serve only had a badge and a gun and the wherewithal to make it home to their loved ones at the end of shift. Knowing that the events portrayed in this book are based upon the authors own experiences, only makes this book more compelling. The author had me standing in South Central with his dramatic and detailed accounts. The depiction of the cemetery, was particularly elegant. As I read the book, my gratitude for those who serve in blue grew and I am thankful for what they did to preserve the peace and make the streets safe for me and my family.

5Conflict in Blue Behind the badge  Dec 24, 2011
By R. Smith
Wow - This book is a fast and very interesting read. You get a true feeling of the life of the cop in LA during the 60's. RBW writes well in his first major work. Detailing the events, actions and feelings and thoughts that lay behind the badge. McLean; Tough as nails, tender family man. Nice work - I recommended it.

4Conflict In Blue  Apr 14, 2009
By Gene Stewart "Attic Hermit"
I recently read CONFLICT IN BLUE. I've not before read a book with as much action & violence & the emotion that goes along with it. You get the feeling you know many of these guys and you understand the change in their personna as "time-on-the-job" jades even the strongest. The book displays how terribly fragile life is, and how miserable life can be for some. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Four stars easily.
