Convergence

The feathery white ribbons in the sky above Adams County, Pennsylvania, were nothing unusual—just the common vapor trail evidence of high-flying jet aircraft. But for the men on the ground below they were a puzzlement. And no wonder: the year was 1863 and the men were Confederate soldiers marching toward the most significant battle of the American Civil War. Thousands of miles away and 105 years later, Navy pilot Nathaniel Booth and his navigator complete their air mission over Laos and are headed back to the deck of the USS Enterprise when their aircraft mysteriously vanishes. Our hero Booth is declared Missing In Action. Years later when Rose Booth, the family matriarch, learns that her son may not have been a casualty of the war as previously believed, she enlists a prominent history professor and his protégé to uncover the truth. They trace the path of our hero as he faces the unfamiliar challenges of life and times from an era in American history long past. In this carefully researched historical novel with a cosmic twist, the author recounts the compassionate struggle to weave together the threads of a lost airman’s life and bring solace to a grief-stricken mother. 88,000 Words, 73 Chapters, 345 Pages

5Amazing Story  Oct 02, 2011
By Howard Clark
An amazing story well done, I couldn't put it down. The author weaves the lives of four people starting briefly in the Viet Nam war and through convergence to the American Civil War and then to the present. It incorporates history, high finance, a love story, and more. The changes in scenes by chapters were well done. I believe the book would make an interesting movie. I am looking forward to the Authors next book. Howard Clark , Spokane WA

5I'm hooked... Whens the next one come out  Oct 31, 2007

Well done Thomas. This is an awesome book. I loved the intricacy of the story and the full tilt pace of the entire novel. I hope you expand on the storyline and keep it going.
I know the author and I'd write the same exact review if I didn't. Wow. I hope the majors pick up on your talents Thomas, this book floored me. Get busy and write the prequel or sequel will ya!

5thought provoking, intriguing and a true page turner  Aug 24, 2007
By Eric Johnson Van Doren
I read this surprising novel in one day, on the advice of a good friend. I have not read a book since.
What if? Could this happen? Has it happened? The novel I read before Convergence, was the Devil in the White City by Erik Larsen, in fact, I felt more urgency in this novel. I felt myself wanting more...more...more a true page turner. The pace of the Settimi's novel was perfect for 6-8 hour plane ride. Each chapter changes scenes, time and characters but you do not loose direction or characters of this tightly woven novel. The author infects you with the subject of War, mystery and "what if". You want to buy the story and I did buy it. What if convergence happened to me? What year is this? I need more answers! Is there a pattern? Vietnam. Civil War... It is a fascinating adventure of detailed history and human exploration of "what if". What would I do in the same situation? Would I want to explore more? Go back to the past? Intriguing! Enjoyable! Highly recommended!
This is a true surprise.

A fanciful time travel story.
Well done and entertaining.
Reminds me of Robert Heinline.
