Don't waste your money Mar 03, 2011
By Rick I bought this book because it was recommended along with another book. I would return this book in a heartbeat but the shipping is more than what I paid for it. Just as the other review states MOST OF THE RECIPES DON'T INCLUDE ALCOHOL! There are only a few that actually call for cooking with alcohol. A better title for this book would be "What I like to drink while cooking" Some of the book does have a bit of humor to it, but again, it has a horrible title to it. Completely misrepresents the book.

Great, fun cookbook! Jan 02, 2007
By L. Jackson This cookbook is not only for the serious cook but also for the cook with a sense of humor. The recipes I tried were delicious and easy to make. I laughed all the way to the stove! Linda Jackson
Disappointing Jan 06, 2011
By Princess Wisp My husband requested a few cookbooks that incorporated alcohol in with them. Seeing the title of this book I thought it was a given. Unfortunately, we are disappointed with the book on the first glance and since this was a gift the idea fell flat.
The book starts with recipes on cocktails mix, okay that is within the theme but it still is NOT COOKING with alcohol. If I had wanted a book on mix-ology or bar tending I would have ordered a book more specific to that. The drinks weren't really anything unique to this writer or unheard of; ie fuzzy navel, long island, all pretty typical and lay person type drinks. If you are a chef looking to incorporate and cook more with alcohol flavors I would think it is pretty given that you are pass the phase of beginner drinks.
As for the recipes, well after flipping slowly through the book we found that MOST of the recipes DO NOT EVEN CALL FOR ALCOHOL! Or, just one example, in the case of the guacamole, the alcohol it calls for is only the beer it suggests being served along side. The variation given is 'if you start drinking early' just take avocado, mash and mix with picante, serve chips and keep drinking.
Honestly, the only reason it gets a one star is I have to and the author does lend a bit of humor throughout. If it didn't cost more than I already paid for the book I'd send it back.
