A really good read Feb 14, 2010
By Aunty Joan Bigwood is a master at capturing dialogue that rings true. Her debut novel speaks to everyone who's ever been a mom and tried to keep a marriage together, move cross country, deal with aging/ill parents and ultimately embrace the new -- all without totally losing herself.

Bittersweet Feb 07, 2010
By Galbraith M. Crump I came to this book fearing it would not be for me, a male reader, but my doubts soon vanished. This is a real book with real characters, a real story line, both funny and sad. "Bittersweet" is how I would describe it. At times riotously funny, but with a sadness that underlies much of the telling as the main character, Francesca, confronts the challenges of marriage, children and parents who face more than the normal problems of aging - thus the bittersweet tone. Throughout it all the main character achieves a resolution in terms of her life and that of her family and friends that provides a lesson for us all. That's what makes a good book.

By Shirley Oberman Curl up in your favorite chair with this terrific book and a warm cup of tea! You'll love diving into this story of a woman who's uprooted from her beloved hometown, and in doing so, fully embraces her family and role as mother. Be prepared for big laughs as life as a co-op mother is revealed in the most enjoyable way ever!

By Rebecca G. As someone with growing kids and aging parents, I could really relate to the story. The author's style is witty and the descriptions thought provoking. At times, the writing was exactly what I was thinking but could not myself put into words. It left me wanting more and reminded me how important it is to enjoy the fleeting moments of everyday life.
