Smooth reading experience Mar 05, 2012
By Winston Crutchfield
"MindSpike"
Don Yarber creates a likable protagonist in detective Kip Yardley. This is not a studious intellectual cozy or hard boiled thriller; Yardley's adventures belong on Saturday night television, populated by cliffhanger commercial breaks, groans of hard luck empathy, and a general feeling of feel-good entertainment that makes you forget to watch for clues and just enjoy the ride. The clues are there - Yarber engages in no twist-ending theatrics or efforts to be more clever than the reader - I just didn't feel much like beating Kip the solution. He's working so doggone hard to get there! At this point, I've read one other Kip Yardley mystery, Death and Deep Waters, and enjoyed it immensely as well. I'm looking forward to more my Yarber as the mysteries roll out!

A Winner Feb 09, 2011
By Glenn H. Ickler "Corpses and Canyons" is a fast-paced detective story that kept this reader turning the pages when he should have been asleep. Don Yarber's protagonist, Private Detective Kip Yardley, has a penchant for getting into trouble. This makes for a story laced with action and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I Like Kip! Jun 07, 2008
By J. H. Kinsey I thoroughly ejoyed this book. It was a fast read. I was able to finish it in one sitting. I am searching the used book stores for the first Kip Yardley book and I look forward to the release of the 3rd story in this series. Great job Mr. Yarber! I'm a fan.

"Author of "Bodies and Beaches" and "Corpses and Canyons""
About Bodies and Beaches : "I liked your lead character. I think in Kip Yardley you have created a fictional P.I. strong enough, real enough, likeable enough to carry a series (if you ever felt like doing several more "Kip Yardley" books). As Maren Elwood wrote half a century or more ago CHARACTERS MAKE YOUR STORY (in a book with that title). So that's a big plus.
"Bottom line: "Bodies and Beaches" is a good job with a likeable lead and a lot of interesting action I enjoyed reading, and you write very well indeed. Verdict: Well done!"
"Corpses and Canyons" is the second in the Kip Yardley Mystery series, featuring "Kip Yardley". Copies of Mr. Prather's letter available on request.

"Larry Myers"
Don Yarber has created a character in Kip Yardley that I want more of. Both novels, including "Bodies and Beaches", grabbed my attention and kept it until I finished them. (I really enjoyed revisiting places I have been to in So. Cal. and Ariz.) Don, if you read this and I'm sure you will, get Kip on another case soon Dude! Good writing makes for great reading. Thanks again.
