Great Book! Feb 11, 2010
By Wendie Cousins If you ever wondered what it is like to race in the world's #1 Ironman Triathlon, then this is your book! The author accurately describes what the race conditions are like in Kona with exact and sometimes humorous detail. From the swim start to the grueling moments of the last few miles of the run, he explains what athletes see and experience physically during this day-long race. This book is broken down into two parts: the race and his training blog. The author explains the steps that he took (with input from a friend/trainer) after winning a lottery slot to participate in the Ford Ironman. "Countdown to Kona" also gives information on products and training tactics the athlete/author used to train and prepare for the race. Very informative, easy to read and motivating...
