Excellent presentation of database fundamentals Sep 15, 2009
By Margie Butler This is a great book for someone who wants to understand how relational databases work but doesn't need to know all the technical details. There are project managers who have never been programmers who could really benefit from knowing the information in this book. Also, it would be good for users who have trouble communicating their needs to a programmer. I was a programmer for many years and I wish my users had a book like this back then.
Excellent Resource for the Beginner May 18, 2011
By RLC This is an excellent resource for the rank novice. It really assumes you know nothing about the subject and walks you through modeling a database at this level. These principles can be carried forward as one delves deeper into the subject matter with texts created for higher levels of understanding and proficieny.
Good, not great. Aug 31, 2009
By Sean R. Mclean The actual portion dealing with database normalization is really very good. The rest of the book could have been summed up in a magazine article. The author does however keep it relevant to just about any decent relational database, so it's utility is pretty high.
