Dave Dangerous and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

Dave Dangerous, a 12-year-old soccer crazy Scottish schoolboy and gifted amateur detective, goes on summer vacation to San Diego with his parents. Upon overhearing a conversation about a kidnapping, Dave determines to find the victims. Joining forces with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (whose real names are John, Paul, George and Ringo) and Samantha, the most annoying girl in the world and niece to the missing persons, Dave embarks on a hilarious adventure where he has to, amongst other things, help win the most important soccer game of the year between two Goblin tribes, outwit an Ogre who has delusions of being an actor, survive a trek through the desert and ultimately save the world. Who say's vacations aren't fun?

5I love this book!!!!  Mar 22, 2008
By Book-aroo Bonzai
I have been reading this book (Dave Dangerous and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) as a chapter book to my kid's. I got so interested in it I ended up all night reading it for myself. The author has a quirky sense of humor that really reminds me of the old Monty Python shows. The book is definitely targeting younger people but the authors wry sense of wit and engaging writing style makes it enjoyable for adults as well. If you are reading to your kids at night like I do, this is a great book for the older ones that are getting more interested in chapter books.

Bought the book for a friend's kids, ended up reading it myself on a long plane trip to see said friend and enjoyed the witty writing style & humor. My friend's kids loved it.

4A fun read  Apr 19, 2008
By Julie Parker
This book was give to my daughter, but I finished all my own books, and grabbed it to read. While the book was written for the tween to teen age group, I thoroghly enjoyed it. The sarcastic humor and quick wit, put a smile on my face. The charachter development was descriptive enough to envision them in my mind. And now, I can impress my friends by reciting all the Four Horsemen Names...*wink...Can you?

5Dave Fabulous!  Oct 27, 2011

I must admit that I was a bit in doubt about this book, but it turned out to be a fun read. The story was quirky and full of surprises. Orges, goblins, cyclops and soccer?, it all blends together to make for an adventure for a twelve year boy from England with a knack for solving mysteries who is visiting San Diego and finds himself in a adventure of a lifetime, I recommend this for kids as well as. Adults, enjoy
