Deadlock

This nail-biting political thriller envisions a tie in the Electoral College that forces the election for President into the House of Representatives where the final decision comes down to the vote of 29-year-old Congressman-elect Matt Hawkins of Wyoming. Two days after the election slalemate, afraid to wait any longer, the Russians invade China across the Xinjiang Desert in a last-minute effort to thwart the unstable Chinese premier's move to deploy new long-range missiles against the Russian homeland. With the Democratic candidate supporting the Chinese and the Republican candidate supporting the Russians, foreign ambassadors in Washington work feverishly behind the scenes to sway the election. The incumbent Republican President Jeffrey Norwalk is ruthlessly exploiting secret files he's been keeping on House members. And Matt Hawkins, newly arrived in Washington, has just fallen head over heels in love with wealthy socialite Patricia Vaughan, unaware that in a few short days, the decision will come down to his single vote.

5Thriller  Jul 22, 2010
By Thomas E. Rodgers
This was a real page turner! Good fast read that had power, sex, murder, and politics. The electoral process is not understood by most people. Deadlock explains, how it really works. Fast pace, suspense.

1raunchy  Dec 09, 2010
By P. Miller
Possibly the raunchiest thing I've ever read. I won't be finishing it; it's already been deleted. I'll never buy from this author again. I'd give it a negative rating if I could. Yuck!

1What a Downer!  Sep 16, 2010
By Anne L. Marshall "Snapshot"
The only thing that was good about the book is that I was able to finish it and move on to something else. Too much detail in the sex scenes, and it makes Washington look as bad as it is.

1Bad language and graphic sex  Sep 12, 2010
By Jean A. Braden "books for life"
Did't make it past the first few pages due to the graphic sex and language. Won't be reading anymore by this author.

1One of the worst I have ever read  Sep 01, 2010
By Ramprof
This book starts with a good idea - a deadlock in the Electorial College for Pres. While the book seems to be building up to the big conclusion - who will the lone Rep. from Wyoming vote for - it plods along with a completely unrealistic romance. In fact, this book seems more like a romance novel with a political twist. The ending is absolutely awful. I hung in (skipping through large sections) but was let down. Do yourself a favor and just skip this book altogether.
