Deadwind Sea a must read. Feb 16, 2010
By Alexis S. Wagner

This book is fanciful in cadence and wording but what I liked most was the intermingling of myths of old to bring this story depth. It was a pleasure to read.

A Grand & Original Adventure Feb 16, 2010
By T. Daniel
"hiddenrobot.com"
Loved it! And here's why:
- A compelling protagonist
- An abundance of humor both wry and slapstick
- A fantastic journey full of imagination and originality
- References to real-world myths and historical figures
- Stories interlocking and overlapping that drive the main narrative
- A true love story
- The meanest, toughest, meanest, monster-killer...EVER!
- Mysteries abound around every corner
- Qualities that will appeal to readers of almost every genre of fiction and literature
- This book has fun, with itself, it's story and the reader
More than anything, `Deadwind Sea' is audacious, for all of these reasons and more. The author and the resulting story try where few other narratives do. Reading it, and the pages do turn wonderfully, I felt like Josh was not willing to leave a word on the page not invested with a vitality worthy of his protagonist and the reader's time and attention and there are passages and phrases that are so utterly stunning in their lyrical word choice that I found myself trying memorize them as I went.
You'll want to read it aloud, you'll want to laugh out loud and you may just choke back a tear or two...
This book is satisfying in the same manner that `The Life of Pi', `The Alchemist' or `Simple Prayers' transport the reader and deliver us back to the everyday mundane transformed.

Storytelling as it should be Jan 26, 2010
By mobiusgirl A fantastic book where the storyline is propelled by an artful weaving of myths and characters. I read this in one sitting and was captivated by the truly original way in which the story unfolds and then folds back in on itself. Wagner's combination of creative ideas and pure story-telling skill really shine in this novel.

Lyrically Beautiful Jan 15, 2010
By Jon Aaseng Josh Wagner does more than spin a yarn, he weaves a tapestry of lyrical beauty which transports the reader through the undulating, mystical, mythical rhythms of space-time fabric right alongside the unfortunate yet admirable hero of Deadwind Sea, the shepherd boy Sergio. I couldn't stop reading, but couldn't bear to reach the final page, wishing the tale would continue endlessly. This is a pivotal work in Wagner's young but flourishing career, and exemplifies his unique literary voice. If you love good writing, read this book.

I couldn't put it down Jan 15, 2010
By Michelle M Deadwind Sea is an amazing book, I couldn't put it down! I read it all in one night and its one of those books that I will read more than once. It was moving and exciting and surprising all at the same time (and at different times). I really loved this book and I can't recommend it enough!
