Wish this book came out when my parents were getting divorced Nov 06, 2007
By Isabella Gambuto My parents divorced when I was six years old and I remember vividly the fear and guilt and confusion of those days. Luckily, I had my grandma and really terrific parents. Seeing this book now, almost 15 years later, makes me remember how much my grandma meant, and indeed still means to me. It is so well thought out, the authors get right into the mind of the child and the illustrator has captured the emotions, joy, fear, confusion and most of all love- so well. I wish I had something like this when I was six.
I highly recommend it to anyone, parent, grandparent or child, who is touched in any way by divorce. Life goes on, things get better, this book really helps deliver that sentiment.

And then there is grandma...... Jan 10, 2008
By Louise Rogers Roaman Each family member is affected by divorce and this book has been written lovingly by a grandmother and a mother helping a child to weave her way through this painful time.
There is nothing that can make this experience anxiety free, especially for a child, but perhaps books like "Dear Sammy" can make it a little bit easier. With its fanciful illustrations, Sammy and her grandmother search for shells, go shopping and liberate butterflies. The relationship between Sammy and her grandma will always be special.
Pat Friedberg and Adrienne Meloni have written a beautiful children's book that illustrates the positive in every way, in what is a very difficult period in a child's life.

Bookends Nov 12, 2007
By Chas Carner
"Author of 'Tawny'"
Families everywhere know that divorce is a multi-generational ordeal."Dear Sammie" speaks for - and speaks to - those loved ones who confront it from both sides of the issue: the parents and children of divorcing couples. Simple and straight forward, gentle and kind, this book gives voice to the oldest family members often muted by lawyers and legalese, and reaffirms for the youngest the support and love that envelope them throughout their lives.

This book is Incredibly appropriate... Nov 03, 2007
By Grace A. Dotolo

for anyone of any age that has been touched by divorce. I have a five year old daughter, and fortunately am not experiencing this first hand, however, many of my family members and friends have gone through and are currently going through the process. Children are so impressionable and inquisitive. This book says it all in such a loving, caring and honest way conveyed by its words and illustrations. It will help many families to overcome the hurdles associated with such an emotional experience. It is in my personal library and I will be recommending it to everyone throughout my life who has a need for it. A Huge thank you to the authors and illustrator for writing such a great book.
