The boy was only seventeen, doing his National Service guarding some god-forsaken causeway in Jaffna when a Tamil girl, probably the same age as him, walked up to him and held out her hand. As she opened her fingers a grenade detonated. They were both killed. What a waste. Two youngsters who should have been contributing to the greatness of this land, not busy murdering one another over some miserable dust-bowl.
