Discovering the Real World God: A Christian Perspective for the Thinking Person

“Discovering the Real World God” is the story of one man's quest for value and meaning in an often chaotic and confusing world of choices. Jay Seas begins his journey much as we all do—with doubts about the inerrant truths ingrained into his psyche by parent, pastor, and the Bible of his youth. Rather than allow his religious doubts to cast out God, however, Jay instead chooses to seek the beauty that pulses beyond the dogma. Jay's search leads to a deeper understanding of himself and humanity’s relationship with the God of past, present, and future. He learns of the transforming power of God's Way of love, integrity, justice, and compassion. Jay discovers that spiritual awareness is not about severing his Christian ties and heritage, but about leveraging these ancient wisdoms to awaken to the harmony and peace of the real-world God.

5Discovering the Real World God  Jan 19, 2009
By Kim Kasten
I enjoyed reading this book. It is a book of hope - Yes we can work together to build a better world; Yes we can have a sustaining relationship with God. It is also a book of warning - We can destroy our world through greed, intolerance, and violence; We can lead unfulfilling lives devoted to false idols.

Seab's protagonist, Jay Seas, is on a spiritual quest. He is unsatisfied with the rigid doctrines of his fundamentalist Christian church. Seas' letter to the pastor of this church would provide an excellent discussion topic for a church group whose members are willing to take seriously the implications of Christian exclusivity and biblical inerrancy.

I found Seas' reflections and discussions with John the bookseller about some well chosen books concerning the Bible and the nature of God to be extremely useful. Also informative is Jay's discussion with Reverend William concerning the history of the early church.

I recommend this book to spiritual seekers of all faiths.
