Louisiana's answer to ... Evangelist Joyce Meyer Dec 15, 2008
By Betty L. Dravis
"BETTY DRAVIS, author/reviewer"
Now that author Mary Lou Cheatham has added an inspirational book to her roster of popular cookbooks, I think of her as a cross between famous culinary experts and cookbook authors Betty Crocker and Rachel Ray, and best-selling Christian author and evangelist Joyce Meyer.
Do You Know How God Loves You?: Successful Daily Living is a marvelous collection of inspiring daily devotionals to guide you through your stressful days and bring you closer to God. I know I need a daily feed of the "Good Word" to help me through the day, the week, the month, the year....I'm certain that many readers feel the same way, especially with our economy and the world situation in such dire straits.
This is a timely book, coming out at the perfect time to give to your loved ones for Christmas. My granddaughter Melinda has traditionally presented me with a "calendar pad" containing daily messages of hope and Bible scriptures. I always look forward to this gift because it's a gift that "keeps on giving." Each day when I tear off the previous day's message, a brand new note inspires me afresh, and I think of Melinda with love and gratitude.
This book will be an addition to Melinda's gift, so this year I hope to be doubly blessed, doubly inspired. Thanks, Mary Lou Cheatham, for your thoughtfulness in passing the "Good News."
"Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28

This book will help you know.... Dec 17, 2008
By Ann Tatlock If the question were actually asked of us "Do You Know How God Loves You?" I'm afraid most of us would have to say "I haven't got a clue!" It's easy to go through our normal daily routine without giving a thought to God's love. This book can help change that. Mary Cheatham has written a lovely devotional book that takes the reader deep into the heart of Scripture where, day by day, she examines the many facets of God's love for his people. I can't imagine anyone reading this without being informed, enriched and encouraged. I know I was!

AN UPLIFTING DAY-BY-DAY SPIRITUAL TREASURY FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR Apr 02, 2009

Five WONDERFUL Stars! Inspiring and Uplifting! "Do You Know How God Loves You" subtitled "Daily Seeking Your Father's Blessings" consists of Christian spiritual readings and thoughts with the objective of helping the faithful focus on the important things in life: loving the Lord, our neighbors, and ourselves as we go about our busy lives. Author Mary Lou Cheatham is noted for her cookbooks, but this time she serves up a wonderful spiritual feast for the entire year, day-by-day: putting us in touch with the Scriptures, prayers, and providing inspirational stories. Each month begins with 2 devotionals for the month (for example, January begins with "Praying with Power" and "God Answers _Your_ Prayer" and then the book goes into each individual day's devotional for January). I leave it on a table and read it each morning for new Christian perspectives and spiritual centering. That's over 366 days of spiritual treaures. My Highest Recommendation. Five Blessed Stars!! (Large format, paperback book, 406 pages)

A testament to faith and trust: food for the soul Jan 01, 2009
By J. Cameron-Smith
"Expect the Unexpected"
Ms Cheatham's new book will provide food for the souls of many Christians. Each of us addresses spirituality in different ways and this book will provide a path for many seeking some structure and outline. Devotionals are often highly traditional and earnestly exhortative without truly engaging the reader to participate in a relationship with God.
This devotional invites Christians to examine their relationship with God on a daily basis. By using contemporary language and modern examples it is more readily accessible than many of the 19th century devotionals with which I am more familiar.
The love with which Ms Cheatham has prepared this devotional is apparent. If you are a Christian, this book may well provide you with inspiration. If you know a Christian who is struggling with their faith, this may well be an appropriate gift. I cannot directly see the hand of Mr Elliott, the editor, in this work anymore than I can directly see the hand of God. But I feel certain that both played a part in enabling Ms Cheatham to prepare this banquet for the soul.
These are truly comfortable words.
