I didn't know Doc Farmer but after reading this book I wish I had. He seemed like a jokster who cared about healing people. Martena has written the book in a way that makes you want to be an Islander and know Doc and other Islanders as she did. I enjoyed the stories she included from the friends and relatives of Doc.
