5Helpful writing exercise for a 7-year-old boy  Oct 21, 2008
I used this book as a guide to help a 7-year-old boy with his writing. He normally has difficulty thinking of topics to write about. This book has pictures of animals, toys, buildings, and vehicles that sparked his interest. He was able to tap on his own experiences with these subjects and thought of enough information to write down and expand upon.
He thought the drawings were "easy." He was able to embellish the basic drawings with his own details that made them look acceptably "cool." I found the pictures in the book served as interesting writing prompts for this child as well as a basis for his illustrations. Thank you!
