Dreaming in Stereo

Dreaming in Stereo is a story of a personal yet Universal experience. A mystical magical journey populated with diverse characters. A living seamless reverie....where night dreams reflect past lifetimes, and seemingly random events are seen to be connected. The Dream also explores provocative modern issues...child abuse, coming to terms with sexuality, and religious conditioning, among others. It is a reflection on contemporary culture, where dark shadows provide deep contrast to the magic of Life, while a sense of humor permeates even the murkiest corners. Step into the Dream.....you'll see yourself. You'll recognize someone you know, there.

5The harrowing tale of an indomitable boy  Jun 14, 2006
By Patricia A. Donovan "Anchorite"
If David Sedaris sat down with Charles Dickens and Diana Vreeland to rewrite Voltaire's "Candide" the book "Dreaming In Stereo" by the author Steven Broderick would result.

The hero in this book is a wide eyed empathetic soul who in the course of his young life manages to successfully slip through the clutches of an alcholic birth mother, a pedophile adoptive father,an uptight catholic prep school and being the prettiest boy under the disco ball during the glam, Pre Aids, Post Stonewall 70s.

My favorites passages in "Dreaming in Stereo" are the hilarious and poignant accounts of the hero's many well intentioned but ineffective attempts to save'em all, the crazy family, the crazy friends, the crazy co-workers...the scenes involving the diva friend taking over the hero's guest room are hilarious. You get the feeling that Broderick's hero was the guy who everyone called for a 5AM ride to the airport...the nice guy. In the end the character wrly wises up to the whole bunch, yet still remains generous and big hearted to the end. This is a book worth reading. This is a writer to watch.

5J'Applaudis Mon PaPa. Le Livre est Mon Prefere!  Oct 03, 2009
By J Boutte' "garcon alpha"
Were I not to have "stumbled" across the author, I am afraid that I would not have had the opportunity to be as enlightened. To have the ability to approach what can be such a threatening subject in such an intriguing way, is truly a gift. This will be one that I will read again!

Je Vous Garderai le Captif! Je Vous Apporterai des Aliments et de L'eau!

Finissez S'Il Vous Plait Travailler le PaPa de Suite!

J'Espere Que Nous Devenons Des Amis! J Boutte'

4Fascinating, well written and deserving of being better known  Mar 20, 2008
By Paul H. Frentzen "miles55"
This is an original story, well written and presented in a very unique yet compelling manner. the story itself is disturbing, upsetting, uplifting in the way the main character overcame a number of challenges to become a better stronger human being. The word play is curiously amusing and at times laugh out loud funny. the linkages between one episode and another, decades apart, seems offputting at first but shortly becomes the only way to read the story. great effort by Mr. Broderick.
