Drugs, Death, and Auras: A Story of Love

In Drugs, Death, and Auras: A Story of Love , new author Brian L. Murphy writes an engrossing coming of age suspense thriller set in the 1970s. Wildly taut, this compelling, fast-paced, character-driven plot examines how men wield power for good—and evil. Based in San Francisco, The Committee is comprised of elders who are bent on making the world a better place no matter what the cost. When members Arthur Gorman and John Ferrel hatch an unorthodox plan to rid the streets of heroin users, they enlist the aid of a chemical researcher who discovers a way to lace drugs, specifically the East Coast heroin supply. When their old friend, Ron Patterson, uncovers the mass murderous plan, he enlists the help of Tim Conolly, a recent graduate he mentors. As the committee members, each with the power to interpret auras, choose sides, one thing is certain, the power to see intention and purpose is both a blessing and a curse.

5Can't wait until the movie comes out.  Oct 23, 2009
By Michelle Brown
I really enjoyed the book. Started reading it right after my Sunday morning newspaper....and finished it that afternoon.
Great read. Loved the characters! I really enjoyed the good/evil - right/wrong aspect. Why do good people do bad things...can people really change??
The dynamics of the Irish Catholic family was well conveyed. I also liked the Bay Area location...the mention of Campbell, California especially made me smile!
I was quite surprised on several occasions...thinking something different was going to happen.
I love the idea of the "Committee".
I can just imagine it on the screen....some really nail biting moments!!! I want Casey Affleck in the movie!!

This book was full of interesting, well written characters, with plenty of depth. I truly cared what happened to them. When is the sequel?

5Cool book and very cool author  Jul 29, 2010
By Rosanna Kennedy
Let's hear it for a new author..... "Drugs, Death, and Auras" is the first book out by the new author Brian Murphy. This is an example of someone getting out there and making his dream come true: writing and publishing his own book!
