A speech-language pathologist by profession, Lisa-Anne Ray-Byers has worked in education, including special education, for two decades. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. In addition to achieving a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, she also holds a Master of Science degree in Multicultural Education from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York. She obtained New York State certification in Educational Administration from courses she completed at the College of New Rochelle and is currently pursuing a certificate in Deaf Studies. The author also writes a weekly question and answer column entitled "Ask Lisa-Anne" in two local community newspapers covering topics in education, education law, special education, and related issues. She is currently employed in the Hempstead School District in Hempstead, New York. She is married with four children.
