Eminent Domain and Old Man Smith

This is a novel packed with intense compassion, dramatic action, and in the midst of all that Royal Wade Kimes injects humor and realism. This may be a book of fiction, however there is enough truth mixed in the brew to keep you spellbound and make the reader think---think "Oh yes, this could happen." Old man Smith a World War II vet takes on the Mob and the Government. Smith who was a sharp shooter in the war and gave up a lot for his country will not stand by silently while mobsters and Government agenices race to try and take what belongs to him. This novel is emotional, tender and tough. Royal Wade Kimes has a somewhat new style of writing, in that the reader without realizing has become one of the characters, at least he feels he knows them. It is fascinating to see the strong personalities in each character, from "Billy Blue Jones" sometimes called "Night Horse," "Old Man Smith," "The Tobin Boys, " to "Nancy Tobin." The mark of a powerful writer is when he or she has the ability to weave a story while making the characters real enough to be forgotten they are not real. The dialogue and one liners in this book are second to none. Without a doubt the author of "Eminent Domain and Old Man Smith" has written a novel worthy of the price, more than that, worthy of the attention of the "Powers that be" nomations for novel of the year, it is that powerful. If your looking for a good read, and in the process get a wake-up call, do not pass up this novel. When folks such as the Publisher of Country Weekly, "Larry Holden" take time to write the introduction to a book, when they give their stamp of approval, that is no little thing and should spell volumes to the reader in his or her decision to have this novel as a selection in their personal library. You will have few reads in your library with a better award winning ending to a book than Eminent Domain and Old Man Smith. Enjoy.

5Really good book  Jul 24, 2007
I bought this book for my husband, and he really enjoyed reading it. I may have to break down and read it myself.

5Enthralling  Mar 19, 2007
I haven't read fiction in years - am too interested in the real world and universe. I was enthralled with this book. I cried. When I hear a song I like I always want to know who wrote it - who had that idea. Wade Kimes descriptions and ideas are absolutely great. I am telling everyone. Pat

5Fact or Fiction?  Oct 06, 2006
This is a great read - really makes you stop and think! The author has a gift of making you see the characters bigger than life! He is an excellent story teller, and this story needs to be told!
