Thrilling plot , macabre scenes, scintillating prose, inventive twists, great dialogue. Oct 02, 2009
By Rob The book is a more or less a sequel to "Bootlegger's Cove." While "Bootlegger's" was a slightly fictional memoir, "Eyes Like Half Dollars" is complete fiction even though it does pick up where Bootlegger's left off: If you were left hanging as to what happened, you'll get the answer by reading "Eyes." The area around Princeton Harbor, and the Gulf of the Farallons, are the milieu in which this story nestles comfortably. It is not, per se, a murder-mystery, as you will learn early on who the killer is. This plot is a murder-thriller upon which you will ride the Pacific and roam the seashore with Gar Walton, his son Jasmer, and Patricia Gunn--a sexy cowgirl detective--while they try to catch the killer before he, like a time bomb, goes off again. A twisting, inventive thriller full of imagery, symbolism and quirky but believable characters. Snappy dialogue.

Eyes Like Half Dollars Oct 03, 2009
By K. Dean Yes, "Eyes Like Half Dollars" flows seamlessly from Rob Tillitz's first book, "Bootlegger's Cove". If you have read Bootlegger's Cove, it will enrich your appreciation of the character, Gar Walton. However, it is a fine thriller/mystery (with a little romance, too) and stands very well, all on it's own. Once again, Rob's writing takes you with him and you'll feel like you are present, along for the ride. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, too, and hope he is ready to write many more!
