Field Notes: A Life Story

This novel is a precious gem based on true events. You will delight as Sunshine takes you back through the memories of her life with Fields. The untimely death of Fields brings their relationship into another dimension. Field Notes is an insightful, fictional memoir and compelling novel chronicling a woman's triumph over a lifetime of living. Sunshine takes you back to a time she and Fields shared memorable moments together. After he is gone, she takes him into the future. Sunshine's strong narrative personality has a deep insight into the human condition and gives to you people who are dimensional and real. Sunshine looks at the world through a very original eye and she is clear about her views. She is not equivocal and not self-doubting, which makes her an appealing character in this day and age of too much fretful self-examination. She makes sense of her world and does not much quarrel with fate. She is skillful as she weaves the characters and the events of their lives into a tapestry of living a life in which there is philosophizing and the revealing of life's purpose.

5I wish I had known and learned from Fields myself.  Dec 23, 2007

Very engaging read. One feels very quickly as if they know Sunshine, and would definitely like her for a friend. But I am so jealous that I never got to know Fields personally. Of course his quotes will be with me for a long time --- perhaps forever. A few may even take the place of my heretofore favorite, Gildna Radner's "It's Always Something". If only at least a few of those "somethings" were as enjoyable as this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sheila Clapkin's book Field Notes: A Life Story. From the beginning it caught my interest and I had to fight not to read the ending. I enjoyed the way she told the story and how the characters lives intertwined throughout the book. I experienced a gamut of emotions throughout the book--happiness, sadness, grief, love, desire, etc. It was great. Would be a good movie.
