I purchased this book because it is written by a person who has fibromyalgia, so I knew she would understand what Fibromyalgia is about.
The book is small, but informative. It gets right to the point. The author, Clarissa Shepherd starts by explaining her experience with fibromyalgia. She goes to explain our sensitivity to chemicals and how diet can affect those with fibro.
She then lists supplements that can help with the advice of checking with a doctor before starting any supplements, which is very smart advice. She gives explanations of the supplements, making it very easy to understand to those of us who are not savvy with supplements.
She also adds some breathing exercises, cautioning the reader to start slowly and build up.
I really enjoy her natural approaches to help with Fibromyalgia. I am personally wary of the chemicals we put into our bodies and want to find a more natural way to help with fibro, along with the advice of my doctor.
The stamina exercises are very helpful and gentle. She also gives the advice for Fibro patients to be patient with ourselves and not beat ourselves up over our limitations.
I think this is a great book for anyone who has fibromyalgia, whether it be the person who has been diagnosed for years or for the newly diagnosed.

A Practical Guide to Improve the Quality of Your Life. May 10, 2013
This is a book guiding you through practical steps to manage your condition and improve your quality of life. I am diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. As you may be aware there are no successful researched treatments and cure for these conditions so I took a practical approach and decided to prepare my body as best as I possibly could from to improve my quality of life. Why is this book different from others? It's written by a person who has the condition. The author herself has also took a practical approach and successfully tried and tested her suggestions and basically wanted to help others by sharing this information. This is not a cure and the author will verify this but it is a way of taking control, doing something for yourself to put your body in the utmost best position to fight additional reoccuring infections and reduce some of the symptoms. In particular, the vitamin suggestions and doing the breathing exercises has helped me.
I came across the author in a support forum and was impressive by her knowledge of the difficulties of living with the conditions; how the author has the insight how we feel physically and emotionally is impressive. Her caring attitude will become obvious while you read the book. What is impressive is that the author has taken the initiative and devised the book into a short concise information guide, making it easier for sufferers to read it through to the end. I am so glad I took the initiative and got a copy of this book and followed the suggestions she made.

This Book is About Living with the Pain and Angst of CFIDS and Fibromyalgia Apr 05, 2013

I am very impressed by the author's rendition of her story, and what progress she has made from the day she literally "Fell Ill". She went through the pain and darkness of her illness, but never gave up on making her life better, even though there is no cure.
She is very knowledgable from her own trials, and I'm sure much research; on what worked for her, and describes in detail what She has learned.
I love the way she presents courage, and pushing forward. I could feel love and caring for others throughout the words, and felt something i haven't for a very long time . . .Hope!
Thank you for caring so, about others when you have it too.
Loaded with great advice, I will read this over and over!!

Excellent Book! To help manage symptoms of CFS/ME/CFS Sep 09, 2012

This is an excellent book that is packed with very good information on how to begin to reinvent your life. It is written in precise easy terms that people unable to focus can follow easily. I was surprised at the size but impressed that it is packed with info for how to heal your self from the inside out. As an addition Clarissa runs a very informative group called Fellow Travelers on Facebook and she shares a huge amount of information she has gained from years of study. She is also very caring as she has and does experience the same problems we all have with Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome ME/CFS and related illness. I am intrigued with the way preservatives, chemicals and medications prolong,cause and even worsen this condition. My study started with a cousin telling me she cured herself using gluten free so I tried it and my pain lessened. Another cousin is so incredibly sensitive to chemicals and food that caused her to live a life of almost seclusion in the most allergy free place in the USA (Joshua Tree, Ca.) . Then due to my very slow metabolism and weight gain my Dr put me on the HCG diet and I felt even better. This showed me that I need to follow the advise and diet suggested by Clarissa and I plan that as my next step. Thank you Clarissa for your love and caring. I at this point would pay anything for relief and this was a very small price for a huge amount of valuable information.

I spent the day reading Clarissa's book which was an easy read and so refreshing. I felt like I was reading my life story. She has included many easy methods we can all do on a consistent basis. I learned some new things and she reinforced me and encouraged me on others. A very encouraging and hands on book. I already took out my vitamins and starting taking them, and ordered the few I did not know wud help! A lot of common sense fills the pages; Esp. the vitamins and breathing/stretching techniques.
Thank you Clarissa!! PS Two of my family members have read the friendly user book and remind me did u do this or that? The book is so to the point and understandable!!
