5Finding the Mountain  Sep 24, 2007
By Colorado Carol
John Riger has given us a chance to ride along with him and his bride on the trip we never dared to take. As if thumbing beside Libby and John we experience dangerous places filled with earthy characters. We cruise for three months from coast to coast, Canada to Mexico, and crisscrossing the country before landing, weathered and broke, to gaze at the magnificent Mt. Sopris in Carbondale, Colorado. John is a natural storyteller who grabs our interest with adventure, humor, love and thoughtful explorations of life's meaning through this true, unforgettable journey to a place just right.

5amazing life adventure  Dec 22, 2011
By John Dye
My wife and I read this book to each other, a several pages each morning before starting our day. What an adventure. We could hardly wait to see what was coming next as they trekked across landscapes somewhat familiar to me. John captures the fears, longings, intuitions, and trust that makes the journey come together with higher purpose... we experience the fine mess that comes from poor judgment followed by incredible beauty and love as they are guided to wonderful places and people along the way . The added bonus for my wife and I was all the discussion of John and Libby's honeymoon. As we read their story, we shared stories of our own from those days. I also took hitch-hiking vacations through most of the 1970's, and actually ended up in some of the same places described in the book. I could swear I also found myself at the commune on the coast of Oregon. That's another story. The book is exiting, adventurous, heart-warming, and inspiring. A great read I highly recommend.

"First Impressions" is a very inspiring story, Mr Riger takes us first hand on a journey of discovery, learning along the way how to maintain focus and maintain faith to overcome bad moments and to continue searching for that ray of light with the hope of finding `home'

"First Impressions" have a message that everybody will understand, the author who followed his heart was able to find his happiness, his peace.

With magnificent descriptions of impressive views and mountains, he wrote for us his memories, there endurance and perseverance are demonstrated every step of the way. We live in a world of worries his story give us many positive thoughts that will strengthen our spirit and will make us wonder and inspire with the thought of start a journey of discovery of our own. This book gives you that opportunity and inspiration as you travel with the author through each passage.

4How often can you read a TRUE adventure?  Jul 22, 2008
By Cindy Brick
Husband and daughter met John and Libby on the Colorado summit of McClure Pass, and came back to the campsite with this book. We'd been reading Bernard Cornwell's Saxon novels out loud, but switched to FIRST IMPRESSIONS for the ride home. What a great read! Exciting, intriguing, and even a few dangerous moments. John's book is that of a first-timer, but I hope he does many more. Husband and I did a three-month motorcycle trip B.K. (before kids), living on chicken noodle soup, hotdogs and traveling across the country. John and Libby's hitchhiking honeymoon brought back many a fond memory.
