5From the author (Forgive the rating. I'm biased.)  Aug 29, 2005
In this book, 40 fractions lessons are embedded in 64 mini-chapters of a fantasy adventure story. Three children explore the heights and inner depths of a mountain in which they encounter a tutor who resembles tinkerbell and a host of adventures with various creatures and situations. The lessons start from the most basic level of understanding and progress to provide the student (of whatever age so long as they can read) with a solid understanding of how we use fractions. Careful attention is given both to the understanding of the concepts involved and to the skills that are required to be facile with fractions. At the end of each lesson, exercises, picture drills, and games are provided. The book is an excellent vehicle for parents helping children with fractions, for home schooling, and for supplementation of school programs. I heartily recommend it. -Richard S. Bogartz
