5Becoming a Nurse manger  Jul 16, 2010
By Angiegemni
I would recommend this book because it is a book that is simple to understand and can be read in a very short period of time. For me, personally it was a review of material because I had originally majored in business management when I first started college. This book covers mostly all of the important information you need to know so you can become a successful Nurse Manger. The best thing about this book is it gives you scenarios of different situations and explains what you should and shouldn't do and what might be the outcome if you make a certain decision. In addition, it gives you reasons why a lot of nurses avoid taking the responsibility of being a Nurse Manger which I believe is important for individuals who have never held a position as a manager and it explains the advantages and disadvantages of becoming a Nurse Manger. Last, I enjoyed the fact that the book has a chapter on accounting and budgeting basics because to be a good Nurse Manager, you have to be good at finances. No Nurse Manager can be successful without being able to handle the supply and demand of their unit or floor and fall within the budget guidelines given.
