Good story and interesting dilemna Jan 14, 2011
By kindle addict I enjoyed the story and the characters. They were decently developed and you can feel the love between them. The medical/ethical dilemna is so interesting. I will say at times it seemed very unbelievable to me. But at other times, I thought it was entirely possible that something like this could occur, and that is scary. The horrific opening of the book is difficult to read but it definitely grabs you. The writing was good and I don't remember too many formatting problems. The one annoying factor that caused me to take off a star in the rating was the lack of periods. So very many sentences had no periods at the end and no space, just the capital letter of the next sentence. It wasn't on just a few pages; it was throughout the book. Once the author fixes this problem, I won't hesitate to recommend this book because the story and writing is good.
And the Future is Now! Dec 05, 2003

"Club Reader"
From the opening scene to the last, I was hooked and completely drawn in on the lives of the two main characters. This is a perfect example of bad things happening to good people. Even before they were born the cards were being shuffled and stacked against Amanda and Eric. Sloppy workplaces and unqualified personnel can have a devastating effect on the lives of future generations. Amanda and Eric were strongly attracted to each other, unfortunately, partly because of their love of the same hobby. Following their hearts, and continuing with their passion of running and exploring the beautiful trails that abound in Marin County, they were wed. Only after the birth of their first child did they come to learn about the complicated world of genetics. After closing the book on the final page, I couldn't help but wonder what anyone would do in the same situation that Amanda found herself in.
Frozen Identity Dec 03, 2003
By Joan J Montague Such talent for this author's first book! I was very impressed how Karen Lee Black was able to bring this plot around in such a way that it really made the reader wonder about the moral dilemmas that were presented in this book. Being somewhat familiar with Marin County, I particularly enjoyed the setting of this story. Karen, the author, would be a daughter that will make any mother very proud!
