Gone For 18 Minutes: To Heaven, To Hell, And Back

On a lovely April day in 2006, dairy farmer, wife, and mother Teresa Simmons—a woman in the prime of her life—suffered total cardiac failure and was considered clinically dead. In those eighteen minutes between death and resuscitation, the author experienced an extraordinary journey, with God as her guide, a journey as terrifying as it was enlightening, as meaningful as it was life-altering. In her compelling memoir, Gone for 18 Minutes: To Heaven, to Hell, and Back, the author shares with readers the worlds she viewed before being revived, the worlds of heaven…and hell. For anyone who doubts the existence of God and the afterlife, this book is a must-read. From her life in the Blue Ridge Mountains to her death and revival, readers will discover a story that uplifts and delivers hope, a narrative that will sustain us through even the most trying times.

1a big disappointment  Aug 11, 2010
By G. Drake
My compliments to Teresa Simmons, who I believe is a genuinely nice, salt of the earth woman who by God's grace was given a 2nd chance after a heart attack. That being said, I expected this book to read more like the excellent book "My Time in Heaven" by Richard Sigmund. It didn't. Mrs. Simmons was highly articulate in describing farming, food, family and friends. However, her description of heaven, and the road to hell, basically covered just a few pages of the book and her descriptions of what she saw were less vivid than say, what she packed for her kids lunch last Tuesday. I literally had to skim through the book because it was simply boring, as most peoples lives are. The story everyone wants to hear is about what she saw in heaven, and this book simply doesn't deliver what was suggested by the cover.

5gone for 18 minutes  Dec 21, 2009

This book has totally touched my life. I finnished reading this about 2 weeks ago. The pictures of heaven and Gods mercy in this story helped to prepare me for the unexpected death of my husband earlier this week. As I watched my husband dying I had a peace and knowledge of where he was going. Thank you Teresa Simmons for speaking the truth of your experience in heaven. which helps us here on earth. Jeannette Glass

This book is awesome! I've been so touched by this great true story. The strength and courage of Teresa is just amazing. Once I started the book I could not stop. I had to know the ending. This is a great book for anyone to read.

2Disappointed  Feb 14, 2011
By Charlene Draper
After reading this book. I was disappointed in the fact that this book wasn't filled with experiences of actually getting to see heaven itself.
I kept reading in hopes that maybe there was more to her experience but there wasn't.
This book was filled with family, family life, hospital stay and what her days and nights were like in the hospital and most of all trying to figure out where she was at when she saw all of them frightened people on that road being ushered in by them evil spirits. It was hard for me to believe that this woman didn't know that what she was seeing was Hell.
This woman was given another chance at life and she is talking to people about her experience and there are some being saved because of it. At the end of it all....people getting saved is what matters.
However, if you are wanting to read a book with a full blown experience of heaven....this one isn't the right one.
