5A Jewel in the Rough  Aug 04, 2009
By Jack L. Thomas "Jack Lyndon Thomas"
Goosing the Write Brain is one of those unexpected jewels that comes along all too infrequently. The text reinvigorates the experienced fiction writer, and also provides a wonderful guide map for the novice. Written in layman's language, the book is much more than a how-to, providing easy-to-follow prose and well thought-out examples that makes a writer think about: using all the senses; the importance of story movement and subplots, the value of her [Chris Rogers] unique concept of MIRs--motivation, internalization, and reaction in scenes; the critical factor of maintaining tension; and the importance of avoiding stilted words and author intrusion; and much, much more. This book is a welcome to my library.

5Best Writing Book I've Ever Read  Jul 30, 2009
By Charlotte Jones
As an author of over eighty published short stories, essays and poems, I have read a lot of books on the craft of writing. This is by far the best one I've ever read. "Goosing the Write Brain" is the book I will keep by my writing desk and refer to again and again. Not only has Chris Rogers provided detailed examples on structuring plot and dialogue, but she has delved into that intangible quality called "voice" and made it tangible and achievable. Her suggestions for engaging the creative side of your brain actually work. From developing a character with depth to writing a synopsis, Rogers hits a home run on every page.

5Best available book on writing  Jul 17, 2009
By Roger Paulding "author, The Pickled Dog Caper"
Goosing the Write Brain: A Storyteller's Toolkit
Chris Roger is the best writing teacher I have encountered in my fifteen years of learning the process of writing. This book is clear and easily understood in its approach to the tools you need. Everyone eventually learns thourgh practice to create a decent narrative, but where help is needed is in character construction, dialogue, and logical presentation of your story so that the reader participates. This book will spur your creative juices to perform like you want them to. It will literally program your brain to produce the story you want to tell.
