Goulburn's Deliverance

This novel explores the demise of Michael Fitzpatrick when he attends the 1899 Melbourne Cup. Here he wins a huge amount of money and meets a beautiful colonial girl. He promises to return to her, but then loses his money, and must survive a seven-year prison sentence before he can keep his promise.
