Great Expectations: America & the Baby Boom Generation

This is the definitive 1980 book that coined the phrase "baby boomers" and put the baby-boom generation at the center of American life. This is the first description of the boomers' transformation of fads and fashion, politics and education, lifestyles and business styles. The choices they made will continue to influence us in the years ahead.

That Landon Jones is also a scholar of Lewis and Clark should come as no surprise because his first book, Great Expectations, opened up territory no one else had explored and remains the best and most thorough study of the generation of Americans born between 1946 and 1964. Next time you hear or use the words "baby boom," you have Mr. Jones to thank, for this is the book that gave us that term. With a title like Great Expectations, you expect something great and you get it: articulate, insightful, and groundbreaking. Highly recommended.
