Heaven Below

Heaven Below is the heartwarming adventure of Sean O’Connell, a Pottsville coal miner who longs to live by the sea. On his way to the water, Sean’s journey is delayed for six years by a pair of brown eyes. A turn of event, the tragic loss of his wife and son makes Sean question the existence of God and he considers taking his own life. The loss of his job at the mines during the Depression only worsens his plight. Hungry and desperate, he is forced to put on a dress to take a job as a waitress to feed his child. He falls in love with a waitress but she cannot return his love because he is, after all, another woman. A murder and an envelope in the dead man’s pants change Sean’s luck and life forever—but at a price. Sean finds himself in a strange town with no job, no home and looking over his shoulder for the man who wants to kill him. Along the way he is blessed with kindness from strangers. But to find happiness, Sean must first follow his conscience before he can follow his dreams.

5Out of the ordinary.  Sep 22, 2009
By D. J. Vaughn
Once you are passed the first few chapters of what seems to be a very ordinary life you are captured. Some unusual twists and turns keeps you reading til the end and not wanting to put it down. I was left with a smile on my face and a belief that we can struggle through any thing in life no matter how bad only to come out the better for it. I am waiting for the next one Dr Joan.

5Fantastic!  Oct 17, 2009
By Lori Coleman "SilverMoonGirl"
I was quickly transported to 1932 and into the life of Sean O'Connell. I couldn't put this book down, I wanted to know what would happen next. Twists and turns of totally unexpected happenings that make you laugh and cry. Great characters and an incedible story line make this a must read. Dr. Joan Lehmann has a true talent and I expect she will be a best-selling author very soon!

5Sean and the Curly Girl head East  Oct 16, 2009
By BeeBee

Lehmann spins a fantastic yarn about a coal miner and his quest for the sea. Through believable characters, tragedies and triumphs and a twisting plot, she makes the ordinary--extraordinary and keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat. Heaven Below is destined to be a classic. Can't wait for Don't Move Lily.

If more authors started out with such interesting stories like this one, we would have more younger readers. This story really keeps you on track and not wondering or rereading. This is a well written story.I would really like to meet this author to see if she is as intriguing as her writting.
