Eddie's ride Feb 11, 2010
By Edward Newell
"Rainbow beach hitchhike"
When you first lay your eyes on this gem you will probably think " oh no, another cheer up---- God is watching"This book is definitely not that. While there is much encouragement, the central theme seems to be -look at all the beauty we have now ! Let be me clear this book is spiritual while not being maudlin. The author advocates no religion nor guarantee on the afterlife. For me it was a series of happy jaunts ( yes jaunts!) while seeing almost mythical figures. Mr. Erler has a talent for poetry and and represents that throughout.I found the poetry equally as evocative as the stories. As it moves along the author seems to ask " I don't have the ultimate answers-do you ? probably not but we can have a ball searching.Let's find a beautiful lake, seaside whatever. Bring some lunch and wine and read some of these poems to our partner.Later ask him or here what a particular story evokes, what poem makes you stop and reflect. I have read this book a number of times and each time I feel energized. I have read both of Curt's other books and he always accentuates happiness but not idle happiness ( good pizza) but rather earned happiness with broken bones and bloody injuries and oh yes ! writing books. Yes there is something guaranteed...You will enjoy.
