Hey, Are You Listening To Me?: Listening Your Way to Professional and Personal Success

With clarity and humor, Rebecca Carswell opens our minds and our ears, teaching us how to develop this essential yet often over-looked skill. Her message is simple: Change the way you communicate and your life will change for the better. Most of us are never taught how to listen and communicate effectively. And perhaps even more importantly, we are never taught how necessary to our happiness and our relationships this important skill is. Rebecca tackles the habits we have of skipping out mentally during a conversation, the barriers which prevent us from truly connecting with and understanding others, and how to overcome these obstacles. “A simple, fun, and very insightful book.” -Katrina M. Mayer, Ph.D., founder of The Wholarian Vision, author of The Mustard Seed Way “Rebecca Carswell offers effective and easy-to-use tools that will empower your life. I encourage you to apply what she shares in this book.” -Sarah C. Dornin, Nano Letters, Harvard University

5A special little helper for everyone...  Nov 17, 2010

This book is a special friend to someone like me that works with clients on a very personal level. It also makes every relationship in my life more positive with day to day communication.

5Great book... emphasizes so many great skills about listening!  Dec 17, 2009
By Becca "Web Genius"
This book was such a great book in getting me to recognize the importance of listening and how to REALLY listen. It discusses paraphrasing and eye contact as key components. It demonstrates how listening is a very misunderstood activity... if you think you are a good listener... there is a good chance you could be much better, and this book shows you how!

5This book is a treasure  Oct 21, 2009
By Donald J. Simon
This concise book is an easy read and one that I will refer to often, for business and personal reasons. If you want to be more respected and influential with others, this book will give you great help. We speak at about 125 words per minute but can listen to and comprehend about 400 words per minute, so our minds naturally wander off, often at a bigger (sometimes HUGE) price than we can imagine. The 8 barriers to listening she enumerates and offers ideas to help us with are crucial; I will use these as a checklist before and after important discussions. She also offers wonderful ideas about how to ask intelligent questions instead of offering advice, a concept that all men, including me can especially benefit from. Us men want to offer quick fixes. It's way more helpful to the other person to engage them by asking great questions instead of just making statements that may or may not be appropriate for them.
