Great Sudoku's with an interesting twist Dec 24, 2006

This is a wonderfully challenging set of Sudoku problems with a hidden message locked in the solution. There are even word scrambles using the letters found hidden in the Sudoku solutions - what a great set of twists to challenge the mind.
Even without the letter and word extras the Sudokus are wonderfully challenging, and if you find them too hard there is an easy-up section that gives the same problem with a different starting point that is easier to solve, so you can even do these problems twice.

The author had the neat idea to combine Sudoku with a word puzzle. While you solve the Sudoku puzzle you have to hunt for a letter buried in it. This makes the puzzles a little more challenging and teases a different part of the brain.
Difficulty covers full range--easy to hard. I liked the "Ease Up!" section in the back, which gives extra clues for the difficult puzzles if you need them. It gives you a chance to try something over your head knowing there's help if you get stuck.
The book is a nice size--fits into a tote bag. The paper and cover are better than most Sudoku. Clear dark print and easy to erase. Would make a nice present because it looks like a book, not a comic book.
