Great read. Feb 19, 2008
By R. Christ This book is extraordinarily written, with detail but not so much that you find yourself daydreaming out of boredom. The character development is extensive and intriguing, with several given perspectives and insight. The plot thickens throughout the novel and keeps each type of reader interested with action, historical accuracy, and romance. Though not a regular reader of historical fiction, I found this book to be refreshing and exciting, words I normally wouldn't use to describe such a genre. The author has a novel way of lacing dialogue and insight into the book, the style is excellent and the product overall very satisfying. I look forward to new books in the future and would highly recommend this selection.

Bravo! Mar 17, 2008
By Zographos Design Written with great detail, each character, place, and event is superbly developed. Staying true to his Greek heritage, the writer did a phenomenal job of interweaving historical accuracy into a work of fiction. Rich with words full of emotion, the writer created an epic story that is undeniably believable, leaving this reader wanting more at the end.

A young author destined for greatness. Mar 22, 2008
By P.J. Wood Hoplite: Torch of Prometheus, by Michael Pritsos is a great accomplishment of literature, by a young, blooming author. Being Michael's first novel, it has some of the 'beginning author flaws', but that does not disrupt the flow of this novel. Michael has blended a mix of historical fiction with his own imagination; the result being a well crafted novel, full of suspense, action, drama, love and loss.
The novel begins with a young hoplite by the name of Maxities; a bastard son of the king of the fictional town, Devanum. He, with his two half-brothers, venture across the plains and engage in epic battles.
The characters are very well constructed and believable. Pontus, a particular sellsword character, brings a lot of humor to the story, which makes reading that more enjoyable.
Well done, Mr. Pritsos on the completion of your first novel. I hope to see more of your work in the near future as I eagerly await the hopeful sequel to this novel.

an excellent read Mar 23, 2008

Michael Pritsos' "Hoplite" is a great sign of things to come. This new author does a great job creating vibrant and engaging characters that hold your attention throughout the story. The beginning of the story is a tad bit slow but he does a great job of building the suspense throughout the novel. About halfway through the book I simply couldn't put it down.
Pritsos does an exquisite job of blending many different elements of a story into one. It is a cohesive story about adventure, friendship, love, and loss. It was refreshing and entertaining. This book would appeal to a wide variety of readers, not just fans of historical fiction.
Take a look at this new author's work... I think you'll like what you find.
