Horace to Littles: The Art of Coming Home

Wars are not over when we come home, they're only silent because they are, just then, beginning to enter our souls. Horace's letters to his nephew, Littles, who has recently returned from conflict are meant to bring about restoration of the veteran to his own self. They show how trauma may destroy or accelerate the search fundamental to all of us, a search ending in the transcendent discovery of the source of being, of power giving meaning to suffering, converting pain, reaffirming, despite the cynicism characteristic of suffering, the goodness of life.
