Great Book for HOMESCHOOLERS Aug 23, 2007
I think that this is a wonderful book that provides a fun and informative way to learn about the Presidents and their horses. I used this book with my 2nd grade homeschooler, and it really kept his attention. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in learning neat facts, or someone who is in the educational industry, and of course all of you horse lovers!

Really a fun book to read. I like that you can pick it up and turn to almost any page and read a short story about one of our presidents and their horse. This book is not only entertaining it is educational and I feel a great book for horse lovers of all ages.

Horses of the Presidents by Leah C. Taylor is a fascinating book about how the horse helped to shape America. Taylor has a brief chapter on each of the Presidents from George Washington to George W. Bush and shows photographs and illustrations of them with horses. The stories and anecdotes are personal and folksey and make the Presidents seem like your friends through her tales of their love of their horses . In many of these stories we understand how important the horse was as a figure in American history. Did you know that you can be arrested for speeding when riding a horse through Washington, DC? Read the book to discover which President actually received a speeding ticket for this!

What a cool look at the presidents. We've seen their lives their wives and even their dogs...now for us horse lovers, we get a peek at their equine friends!!
Enjoy! I did!
