How To Defend Yourself In Contempt Of Court Hearings

Being involved in a court trial over alimony payments is not a question of 'IF' but 'WHEN'. Unless you are well off, a time will come when you will be unable to make your payments and you will be held in contempt of court for falling behind. Then what will you do? If you can't afford legal counsel, you are at the opposition's mercy. This guidebook can almost certainly change the dynamics of your case from one of defending yourself to that of going on the offense and holding your ground. Doing so can possibly save you a lot of money and keep you out of jail. With Florida used as an example and easy to understand layman's language, it takes you step-by-step, from start to finish to show you what you will be facing and how to handle it. It covers such topics as: strategies to avoid contempt and going to jail; types of documents you will encounter; tips and methods of preparing documents; obtaining your ex-spouse's financial information; how to prepare for the court trial; and much more.

The long title of this book should be longer, I suggest adding "...In the state of Florida"

The book does give some insight as to the happenings regarding contempt hearings, albeit very specific to alimony, with definite breaks where it does not apply to things that may apply to the reader, as in my case, child support.
"...does not apply to child support as that is whole different ball game..."

So, if you read past all the 'sidegrades', (be sure to pick this book too at this website{publisher}). It is as if the publisher and/or writer set out to maximize gain from something that is a very real, very right now, definite social breakdown, metaphorically represented as 'How to avoid killing someone with your car'. It tells you the basics of a specific state's laws regarding such but also suggests buying the 'How to use automotive mirrors effectively' which hints at 'Maximize the use of automotive braking systems for self preservation' volumes which are written to imply they are necessary for effective use of the first volume.

Yes, the content is poignant, minus grammatical errors, but if you don't reside within Florida, that edge is dulled slightly, as the direction/motivation/self help is pushed more back on the reader, which to some, just shows how deep the chasm is we are pitched over, and how real the subsequent legal gravity will destroy us(ignorance is bliss?).

If I didn't have some groovy amazon gift certificate cash, I would be sorely disappointed at the price of this book, but since I only paid half, I am less so. Still not satisfied, even though I learned a couple of things, but like most slight of hand, it clearly calls the question 'is all this preparation for this trick even worth the loss of time'. That might be my frustration at delving into Pro Se, as such, admittedly so by this reviewer.

Contempt hearings are not only frightening, but can result in incarceration. This book details an array of situations and the consequences of a contempt hearing. Having been faced with several contempt motions, I can honestly say that the information detailed in this book is a must for any pro se or attorney represented individuals. Knowledge is power and this book which is written from a personal experience viewpoint is on target and exceptionally informative to a layperson. A required reading for all..

Although most of us will never want to be in a situation where a contempt order is issued against us, we can never predict if a change in our financial circumstances may put us in such peril. This book not only defines the different types of contempt orders that are commonly issued in divorce cases, but it shows clearly and thoroughly how to deal and how to fight them in court. Another must have book for the collection of the divorcees.
