The Urban Book Source Jan 06, 2008

This book tosses readers into a story full of characters who want to do exactly what the title suggests. Love triangles, affairs, and deception are rampant, but the lack of a developed, coherent plot hinders the reading of the story and will leave most unsatisfied. The storyline, an overused one to say the least, was dry and confusing in many places and left me unmotivated to finish the story.
1. What did you like best about this book? There wasn't anything that I liked the best.
2. What did you dislike about this book? I did not like that each character sounded alike. This caused confusion and took away from each one's own personal contribution to the story.
3. How can the author improve this book? I think the author had some good ideas, but I think a seasoned editor needs to take a look at this before the book will be a good read.

Judge This Book By Its Cover! Jun 25, 2007

"O.O.S.A. Gets It Read!"
As a devoted reader and reviewer it is never my intentions to be impolite, yet, I do feel the need to be truthful when reviewing. I applaud Claudia's dedication. I know that it isn't easy to put yourself out there, but in the same breath, when you do; you have to also be prepared for all that entails.
While reading I CAN HAVE MY CAKE AND EAT IT TOO you are immediately pushed into a story where you don't know the characters and it continues that way tossing people in from each direction with little to no background. You're often uncertain which character is actually talking, as they all sound just alike. I can admit that the chapters are short and it is a swift read, yet, I just kept wondering what the point of this story was.
I totally agree with one reviewer; I can't see myself recommending this book to anyone.

I was lost.... Jun 29, 2009
By John R Williams-THE Author This book did a poor job of explaining the background. You can't just plant readers into a storyline and not explicate properly. As a reviewer of books herself one would think that she would know this and would take the time to develop and small history. It read like a bad movie. The plot was ill-conceived and kept me frustrated. She tried to do too much. I was disappointed about spending my hard earned money on this story.

Life is not a Piece of cake Jan 15, 2007

"Book lover"
This book, I Can Have My Cake and Eat It Too by Claude Moseley Brown, is a series of mixed-up love triangles. First we have the love triangle that is going on between Ebony, Quinn and Jenny. What will it take to make these ladies stop fighting and realize that Quinn does not love either of them? Then you have the marriage of Richard and Tatyana, which is rapidly going south upon the arrival of Glenda, Richard's college sweetheart. After all Tatyana did relieve Glenda of her man, now Glenda has come to claim him back.
I Can Have My Cake and Eat It Too is a quick and easy read. I applaud the author for pursuing her dream and making it a reality. However, I believe that her audience will grow only if she takes the necessary steps to hone her craft before publishing her next book. I Can Have My Cake and Eat It Too is a nice presentation but the delivery needs work. Weak pacing, cardboard characters, lack of sentence structure, shallow characters and a weak plot hindered the story. It was hard for me to follow the story due to the fact that it skipped from character to character without any build up. The character's voices sounded alike and at times it was difficult for me to determine who was speaking. The storyline/theme was not original and it was not told in a manner that made me want to embrace these characters. Ms . Mosley did not seem to be able to find her artistic tempo. Perhaps with proper editing, this might have been a likeable story. As it is I cannot recommend.

Let Them Eat Cake! Oct 16, 2006
By Nghosi Books.com Reviewer I must say this book was an easy and quick read. I loved when when Taytana and Glenda had their last conversation, I could feel myself being in Taytana's position and contemplated what I would have done.
I was glad that love seemed to outweigh the downs in everyone's relationships. The way Mosley took bitter and turned it into sweet was a nice touch to end a really powerful love story. I loved the character designs. Ebony had just enough street in her to keep the story exciting; Sabrina was the perfect lady and deserving of any good that came to her; and
Taytana was no ones fool and she always kept her cool. On the other hand, Glenda was fake, conniving, and vicious in a lady like way. She had a lot going for herself but she didn't have enough of what a good man needed. Through this character, author Claudia Brown-Mosley shows the reader that looks and high status in society doesn't determine how much power you have. Rather, it's what you do outside of the bedroom has to service as much of a purpose as what you do in it.
If I had to describe this book in three words based on the characters and their actions, those three words would be hot, dramatic, and steamy!
