Disappointment Dec 07, 2010
By lorrijo I was really excited about this book. I think if I would have been able to see the first few pages, I would have know that I should not order it! I think the beginning words about her "brain being wired wrong" is inappropriate. I'm also not a huge fan of how the girl talks about how she thought she was dumb before she knew she was dyslexic. It just didn't educate the way that I would have chosen. I did not read it to my child for this reason.

My daughter is proud to own and read this book! Oct 13, 2009
By Rachel Marie My daughter is in her teens and has dyslexia. She received this book as a gift from a friend of mine, and it made her day! She has insight now into how dyslexia affected her early years, and this book "hit the nail on the head" of her experiences.

Excellent Must Have Oct 08, 2009

I have two Dyslexic children and this book is spot on for their symptoms and how they have felt. I liked it so much I bought a copy for my LBS/LD teacher. If your child is being taught using a multi sensory or Orton-Gillingham based system it speaks about that as well. Perfect!

brain not wired right Oct 16, 2010
By Good Book Reader I am a tutor for children with Dyslexia. This book is very accurate. I like what it says except for on page 2 it says,"Some of the wires in my brain are not connected right and my brain does not process words and sounds correctly." This sounds very negative. It should read something like, "The wires in my brain are connected differently. I need to use a different way of learning to read and spell than my regular classmates."
Not that important but the other thing I didn't care for was the illustrations with Delaney smiling. The smile just isn't done well. It makes the book look amateurist.
