I Wish I Had This A Long Time Ago! Oct 05, 2009
By C. Raymond This book has all of the attributes that I look for in a workbook:
1. A quick read. I was able to read all of it in less than an hour. 2. Easy to understand. 3. Leads me step-by-step towards my goal. 4. Provides me with insights and details that weren't obvious to me.
My immediate reaction to reading this book was excitement because I now had approach to pursuing new employment, which I had not done in over a decade. Being rusty at it, "I Lost My Job! Now What?: A Self-Help Workbook for Moving Forward" provided me with four important areas of guidance:
1. An easily understood approach to "shaking off" the conclusion to the previous employment experience 2. Ways of getting prepared for the unknown length of time between jobs 3. A method for clarifying what I wanted pursue for my next career position 4. Practical steps for engaging in the actual job search.
Among the most valuable parts of the book are the various references it provides to websites and other resources that are now available to people in a career transition that either didn't exist a few years ago or just were not known to me.
I recommend this book because so much important information is presented in a logical, easily digestible manner.

Few publications lay out such an easily understandable step-by-step method for overcoming the initial shock of employment loss and using that energy to develop a positive, systematic and effective job search program. Ms. Black guides you through key activities while also allowing the reader to create strategies best fitting their individual circumstances. A marvelous tool that every job seeker should read!

This is a must read for people in transition !!! Nov 14, 2009
By Jeffrey K. Cordes
"Talent Management Expert"
Ms. Black gets it! Finally, someone has developed a book for people in transition that is not based on how to use a job board-The real compelling component is the true passion and caring for individuals in this book around looking at the aspect of 'moving forward'. This book should become a tool for outplacement companies to use with transitioning employees. It is easy to read and something that can be utilized in so many positive ways. Job seekers can get bogged down and frustrated. This book provides a quick, yet focused & in-depth roadmap to making a transition. I highly recommend this book to all job seekers and people in transition!
