1Get out of the Review!  Aug 13, 2006

V.Azevedo ... to be heard, you MUST put yourself in the proper venue! Stop editing your own review and join the forum discussion! Hiding behind a wounded ego will NOT enhance your credibility! Join the discussion about YOUR book and show the WORLD how viable your talent is!

Forgive me all, for using the "Review" part of this, but it would seem that it is the ONLY place V.Azevedo is willing to poke his head out of the muck!

1Great guide for teaching how NOT to write!!!!  Aug 05, 2006
By Shuvani "Shuvani"
Mr. Azevedo's book is NOT a "gripping story of faith, love and adventure" as proclaimed on the back cover. As an avid reader of ALL literature, written in ANY genre, I am offended by the presentation and misleading synopsis.

Inspirational books are sought after by those of us who at times feel less fortunate than others. Hence the phrase "Misery loves Company". During a small bout with "feeling sorry for myself", I located this book, at a yard sale and picked it up. I must admit ... I no longer feel sorry for myself as, at least, I am capable of writing a paragraph without redundantly repeating myself within same sentences!

There are many petty grammatical errors, that are quickly overshadowed by the discrepancies of the author. This was NOT an easy read. I found myself doing what I scold my children about ... and that is skimming through paragraphs that were .... ridiculous!!

NOT recommended ... unless you want to show your aspiring writer of 13 the downfalls of poorly written literature!

1I Never Said I Was Perfect  Jul 05, 2006
By C. Azevedo
The one star rating is for the poetry. I felt this book was a hard read and offered very little in literary value aside from some very nice poetry. I did not find it inspirational at any level, and was displeased that is was offered as a factual memoir. Case in point: the author claims to have been imprisoned at Kilmainham Jail in Dublin, but Kilmainham ceased operations, and the last prisoner was released in 1923! From 1960 to 1980 it underwent restorations and is now used as a museum. It would be quite impossible for a man aged 53 to have been imprisoned there at any time, at least not in this life. That was one glaring discrepancy that I observed among many.
In response to the authors review of my comments and to clarify for others: Page 274: "We were asked where we wanted to go, but of course no one answered the soldiers which upset them and they decided to dump us off at the nearest jail which was in Dublin, Kilmaninham Jail, and let the authorities there deal with us." "Arriving at Kilmaninham Jail, the soldiers decided to take our hoods off so we could see just where we were. The outside of the Jail was ominous looking, thick walls made of stone and very few windows didn't make it a welcoming place," (a very accurate description of Kilmainham Jail) No where is it stated that the author was 'told' he was at Kilmainham..it was a statement of fact.

5Really Loved This Book!  Aug 16, 2006
By Sassie Cassie
This book was really interesting. I like the way the chapters are like little stories. The progression from childhood to adulthood is a different approach to a biography. This man definately has been through many different experiences. I found it be enchanting and enlightening. For me, I Never Said I was perfect brought back memories of my own growing up and made me smile. Kudos!
