Tanya Boudreau- TCM Reviews Oct 14, 2009
By TCM Reviews Human behavior frequently irks us! I'm positive Phillip Reed could write a part two, three, and four of Idiots `R Us. This is his straightforward telling of his pet peeves.
In reading his 131 instances of bothersome behavior, you'll recognize some of these behaviors in others, and maybe see some of them in yourself. Phillip Reed hits on all aspects of life. Here are the people who are bringing unhappiness to their family, friends, co-workers, and strangers with their caustic behaviors. Mostly though, these people are damaging their lives and their relationships.
Each of the 131 annoyances is explained in one to four sentences. Topics range from mild annoyances to dangerous behaviors. On the milder side, we encounter people who are lacking in manners, and chewing with their mouths open. These same people fail to cover their mouths when they cough and sneeze. There are also people we know who have no sense of responsibility. Some parents have children at home, and these children are not being properly disciplined.
This lack of responsibility takes place at work too. Workers will be in a meeting, and yet they won't listen to the information being presented to them. On the more extreme end, there are people who are putting others at risk. These are the people who have several sexual partners, and yet they are not practicing safe sex. This book will be a revelation for some, and entertainment for others. The rest will nod their heads in agreement with Phillip Reed's picks for Idiots `R Us.
Humor in Words Jul 28, 2007
By The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers Sometimes we really do not know what we are saying because based on the things we say in IDIOTS `R US by Phillip Reed; we are "idiots" to say the least.
You remember the saying "the things kids say" well, think again, because the things adults say is out of this world and how we state and rationale around our lifestyle with spouses, children, co-workers, friends and family is amazing. The author makes us look at what we say with so much sensibility, I kept a silly smile on my face the whole time while reading the book. We are too funny!
For example, one of his humorous statements that hit home was "You always talk about losing weight, but you never go to the gym and won't eat anything except fried foods and candy." Come on, some of us do that all the time, right? Another one he reminds us about is "You use your credit card for everything and wonder why you can't get out of debt". I could go on and on, but you will have to read the book to see the idiotic ways we word statements about situations, problems, society, self, and others.
IDIOTS `R US by Phillip Reed is a good book to read when you have a house gathering because it will definitely be a good conversation piece with lots of laughter. I can read this book over and over again and still find myself laughing and shaking my head. This is a winner and I think the author has touched some areas that some of will look at with a shamed face. Don't be ashamed, read the book and get a wake up call, we are humorous individuals with plenty to say in IDIOTS `R US. Enjoy!
