In Another Country: One Woman's Struggle for Justice on The Border

Connie Rogers is vulnerable because she's old and alone in her farmhouse. The sheriff has warned her to move out because the youthful drug gang that invaded her home and robbed her has cased her house and they'll come back. He says they'll give her a month to replace the things they took; they'll come back and he can't protect her. If the authorities can't protect her, can an old woman alone in an isolated farmhouse protect herself from a gang of young men on drugs with only a Saturday night special and stubborn determination? Peggy Snodgrass's In Another Country is a novel of justice and independence, an atmospheric celebration of humanity and individual will, guaranteed to keep readers turning the pages, right to the powerful conclusion.

This is a good read. It holds your interest all of the way through. Almost all of it is based on fact which makes it scarey that something like this is happening here in the good old USA.

5It Really IS Another Country on the Texas Border!  Sep 01, 2006
By Terry Anderson "Texas on the Plate"
Wow! I was born and raised in Texas, lived here most of my life, but I had no idea what the situation was like "down on the border". This was a riveting book. I literally could not put it down. The author's characterization is very, very skillful. I could vividly picture each character from the gentle protaganist Connie, to the evil gang members. The plot was smoothly crafted and moved along at a nice pace. I believe this book is a must-read for every Texan - certainly for anyone considering a move to the Rio Grande Valley region of our great state.

5IN ANOTHER COUNTRY  Jun 23, 2006

I have lived in South Texas most of my life and this book is a must read for anyone that lives south of Dallas. I have seen justice go from bad to worse along the Mexican border. Mrs. Snodgrass has struck at the heart of law and order in a most gentle way.
